A/PARTY in NYC!
The Academy of Art
University Alumni Association hosted its first multidisciplinary alumni event in New York City on
October 28, 2009 at the Art Directors Club. Nearly 150 Academy graduates and industry guests
gathered for an evening of wine, conversation, and a unique opportunity to view the
2009 ADC Young Guns
exhibit. This event marked the kick-off of the New York Alumni Chapter, providing local graduates
with the opportunity to stay connected with each other and the Academy. An enthusiastic group of
local alums have formed a leadership committee to plan and execute future activities for the
chapter. Email Janet Preloger, Director of Alumni, at
jpreloger@academyart.edu to get involved.

Academy of Art Alumni Association Throws A/PARTY!
On July 9, 2009, the
Academy of Art University Alumni Association launched its first-ever Bay Area Alumni Chapter.
Thanks to the over 250 alumni guests who gathered at the 79 Gallery to network and reconnect with
fellow graduates spanning nearly six decades from the class of 1959 to 2009. Guests perused the
best work from Spring Show 2009, reconnected with former instructors, toasted the Academy’s 80th
Anniversary, and reunited with long lost classmates.

The Birth of A Journal
Over the last several months,
the Academy of Art University Alumni Association has worked to create a newly designed alumni
newsletter. With a dedicated team, exciting news from alumni and the design skills of graphic
design alum Christopher Morlan,
A Journal makes its first appearance.
A Journal emphasizes the impeccable art and design successes of the artists, innovators
and designers who make up the Academy’s alumni family. It captures and embraces the diversity
of creative accomplishments, it highlights a journey through the world, creating, designing,
inventing, and shaping.
A Journal engages in the storytelling of vibrant individuals and connects a global
community of art and design professionals.
Your feedback is important to us. If you have any comments about
A Journal, please email
